Lutein (Tagetes erecta)

Lutein is one of 600 known naturally occurring carotenoids. Lutein is synthesized only by plants and like other xanthophylls is found in high quantities in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, and yellow carrots. It cannot be synthesized by our bodies, so we have to take it through our diet or supplements. It helps to fight free radical damage caused by sun exposure and other factors including poor diet.
